18       Tomato Workshop, Clackamas Community College, Room 117 and 133, Hort Building, make a 5 foot high cage to take home. Bob Woods will divulge his secrets for ripe tomatos in June. $5.00 pre-register and will include one tomato cage. Each additional cage will cost $5. Participants will be divided into small groups and make cages and learn tomatoe culture from planting to maturity. Register at the Chapter meeting or contact Sherry Holly.

10       Chapter Picnic, Thanking everyone for all the wonderful volunteer hours donated.  Meet at 6 pm at the Picnic Shelter at the Milwaukie Center. Bring you place mat, plate, silverware and a dessert to share. We furnish the burgers, brats, corn on the cob.

12       Chapter Meeting, 'Composting and Vermiculture – Wastes to Garden Gold'. Elizabeth Howley, Clackamas Community College, Hort Dept. She added compost to her own garden in 2008 and will share advice and design for composting and take us on a visual tour of her garden.  Laura Eyer, Master Gardener, will tell about the worm 'Reds', how many needed, what do they eat, do they smell?

 

16       Bee Wash at North Willamette Research and Extension Center, Miley Road, 9 am – noon, Rid the bees of mites and get them ready for the next season. Learn the life habits of a working bee.
